How to set up Cosafe users on shared devices
This article is available in English until the translation has been approved.
Many organizations use shared devices on which they need to install Cosafe — for example, a tablet in a conference room, department phones that are passed around depending on who's working, or devices shared among employees who work in shifts. Below, we explain how to set up Cosafe on shared devices.
1. Create a dedicated email address for each device
Create one email address per device you want to install Cosafe on.
- The email address should clearly reflect the device or role it represents (e.g.
yellowdepartment1@yourcompany.com,yellowdepartment2@yourcompany.com). - Each email address must be unique. If the same address is used on multiple devices, the system will treat them as the same user — when one device sends an alarm, the others will stay silent because they interpret it as already sent by themselves.
If your organization supports email aliases, you only need a single shared inbox. Your IT department can create multiple aliases that all forward to the same collective inbox. This simplifies inbox management while keeping each device uniquely identifiable in Cosafe.
2. Set up a collective inbox
Redirect all device email addresses to a single shared inbox so you only need to monitor one place for incoming Cosafe emails, such as invitation links and password resets.
Setting up email forwarding or aliases typically requires IT support. Contact your IT department if you need help with this step. They can either create separate email accounts that forward to a shared inbox, or set up aliases under one address — either approach works with Cosafe.
3. Create users in the Admin panel
Log in to admin.cosafe.com and create one user per device using the email addresses you just created. Make sure the email addresses you enter in Cosafe match exactly.
- See How to add users manually for detailed instructions.
4. Invite the new users
Send invitations to all the new device users through the Admin panel.
- See How to invite users for detailed instructions.
5. Set up account credentials
All invitation emails will arrive in your collective inbox. Create a password for each new user and share the login credentials with the personnel responsible for each device.
6. Verify that alarms are working
Once everything is set up, verify that each device is receiving alarms and notifications properly.
- Open the Cosafe app on the device.
- In the menu, tap Test your alarm.
- Confirm that the alarm sounds correctly.
See Testing your Cosafe alarm for more information.

Your shared devices are now set up and will work just like any personal device with the Cosafe app installed.
