Setting up the Exercise PDV alarm template

This guide is intended for account administrators at organisations using Cosafe who want to enable and configure the Exercise PDV alarm template.

Practising PDV (Pågående Dödligt Våld — Ongoing Deadly Violence) helps staff understand how the alarm works in Cosafe — both sending and receiving — and lets everyone rehearse the Run – Hide – Tell (Swedish: Fly – Sök skydd – Larma) protective action model issued by the authorities. The Exercise PDV (Övning PDV) template gives staff the same flow, sound, and feel as a real PDV alarm, but without any real-world consequences. It is a permanent, reusable drill template, so you can run the exercise as often as you need.

Before you start​

  • You need account level administrator access to the Cosafe Admin panel.
  • Exercise PDV must be enabled for your organisation by Cosafe. This is not self-service — your main account admin should contact Cosafe Support to have the template added to the account. Until this is done, Exercise PDV will not appear as an option when creating a new alarm.
  • Subaccount admin? Exercise PDV is controlled at the main account level (see Subaccount settings below). If you don't see it as an option, contact your main account admin and ask them to enable it for your subaccount.

Creating the Exercise PDV alarm​

Exercise PDV is a template-based alarm: the alarm name, colour, sound, recipients, location behaviour, confirmation step, 112 emergency call button, and instruction text are all preset by Cosafe and cannot be changed by the admin. This guarantees that the alarm behaves identically across all schools.

  1. Log in to the Admin panel at admin.cosafe.com.
  2. Navigate to Account in the left-hand menu.
  3. Open the Alarm tab.
  4. Click Create alarm and select Exercise Ongoing Deadly Violence (PDV) (Cosafe's Swedish PDV alarm exercise). The form opens pre-configured with the exercise template.
  5. Review the settings:

    • Configuration name (optional) — an internal-only label shown on the main account, not to subaccount users. This is useful when you need multiple variants targeting different groups, for example PDV Exercise – Primary School.

    • Alarm name — locked to Exercise Ongoing Deadly Violence PDV. This cannot be changed by anyone, regardless of role or permissions.

    • Predefined groups — to save the sender time, the recipient-selection step is skipped and the alarm auto-sends to all users in the subaccount. This option is to add further groups if needed.

    • Subaccount settings (advanced) — force the alarm down to all subaccounts (current and future), or select specific subaccounts only.

  6. Confirm by clicking Create.
